Uber and Lyft Safety???

Uber and Lyft have really taken off in popularity recently, especially in big cities such as L.A, New York City and Chicago. Have you ever felt uneasy getting in a ride with an ‘Uberly’ complete stranger? As a passenger of an Uber or Lyft ride, you should know there are products available to purchase that may help you feel a little more secure.

Pepper Sprays are great and pack a huge punch! There are many different varieties in different shapes, sizes and potency. Each state and or city may have there own regulations in regards to what is allowed to be carried, so we recommend checking your local regulations before purchasing any pepper sprays. In general, all states allow Pepper Spray but some limit the maximum potency to 10%. Others require that you purchase the spray in the state you reside.

The OC (oleoresin capsicum) level represents the potency. The highest OC pepper spray we carry is 18%. We would recommend you carry the max for your safety if your state allows. Along with pepper spray it may be helpful to carry a personal alarm. The alarms sounds a loud sound that scares the attacker and notifies persons nearby. With these two items, you will have two methods of protection covered. Some personal alarms have a decibel as high as 130!!

Safety isn’t limited to just passengers. Drivers should also cover all aspects for safety as well as passengers. For drivers it is also a good idea to have a pepper spray on board. We recommend you have video surveillance as well to prevent any “he said she said” scenarios that may occur. There are a wide variety of dash/vehicle cameras available. To help make your decision please see the YouTube video below!

The Problem with Dummy Cameras

Many of the dummy cameras being sold today have batteries and flashing strobe lights included. We strongly recommend that you resist and do not use this needless feature. Of the tens of thousands of security cameras on the market less than 1% ever have any kind of light visible let alone “flashing lights” in the front of the camera.

A flashing light on a camera screams “I am a dummy camera” and many thieves may know that. Simply don’t use the feature. Any bad guy with half a brain can figure out that the flashing light is a sure sign of a dummy camera. Continue reading

Words from the Boss: Cloned Debit Cards Add to ATM Thefts

Technology makes our lives easier, or at least it’s supposed to; yet, as our understanding  improves and complicated processes, such as computer programming, become more user-friendly,  some decide to use these innovations to prey upon others.

ATM skimming-devices, for instance, have evolved from clunky, obvious pieces of fake auto-bank teller equipment to sleek, undetectable theft devices that are unnoticeable to untrained eyes. As the equipment becomes better, the criminals grow in sophistication, often stealing hundreds of thousands in others’ money before being discovered. Continue reading
