The U.S. Army says it has punished four Nashville-area recruiters.

It all stems from our exclusive NewsChannel 5 investigation of the recruiters and their Dishonorable Deceptions.

The Army’s announcement came in a news release, headlined ”Army recruiters punished.”

Those recruiters were caught on hidden camera, urging a prospective recruit to lie about his mental health history.

“There’s ways around the system,” one recruiter told our undercover producer. “You’ve probably seen TV reports and all that. More or less, me and you are the only ones that know it.”

Altogether, our investigation caught three recruiters on camera — and a fourth who was just off camera — urging our producer to lie to get into the Army.

After reviewing our video and conducting its own investigation, the Army announced that all “four recruiters were found to have committed a recruiting impropriety.”

One was relieved of his recruiting duties and returned to regular Army duty.

Two other recruiters received what are called General Officer Letters of reprimand.

The fourth recruiter received a less serious ”letter of concern.”

“The message is the U.S. Army Recruiting Command expects its recruiters to recruit with integrity, to be hones and to be honorable,” Army spokesman Lee Elder told NewsChannel 5′s chief investigative reporter Phil Williams.

“Those recruiters who don’t follow those guidelines will be punished and that’s pretty much what happened.”

As to which recruiter received which punishment, the Army says that — because of federal privacy laws — it can’t say.

As to what the Army is doing to make sure that this doesn’t happen again, the spokesperson says the entire Nashville Battalion — which includes most of Tennessee and Kentucky — had received additional training in how to recruit with integrity.

Mamura Nasirova pleaded guilty to two counts of endangering the welfare of a child after the Staten Island nanny was caught on camera slapping and shaking a baby.

The nightmare nanny caught on camera slapping and shaking a 5-month-old Staten Island girl has admitted abusing the baby and now faces up to 10 months behind bars, prosecutors said Tuesday.

Mamura Nasirova, 52, pleaded guilty to two counts of endangering the welfare of a child Monday for the horrible Jan. 28 attack captured on a hidden camera installed by the tot’s parents, officials from Staten Island District Attorney Dan Donovan’s office said.

Nasirova was alone with tiny Sabrina Mardakhaev and the infant’s 17-month-old brother when she suddenly started hitting the girl in the face, then shaking her by the chest and feet before giving her a bottle, the video shows.

Nasirova then grabbed the baby from the chair and walked out of the room in the Grasmere — unaware that Mardakhaev’s mom was remotely watching the entire attack in real time on camera.

The suspicious mom had access to a feed from the “nanny cam” secretly hidden in a carbon monoxide detector in her Woodlawn Ave. home, sources said.

The mother, who was not identified, rushed home and confronted Nasirova, sources said. The family then contacted police, who arrested the 52-year-old on Feb. 4.

Donovan’s office has also taken steps to have Nasirova deported back to Uzbekistan after she fulfills her sentence, officials said.

Officials will be asked to look into whether current legislation can be extended to include the tracking of high-risk domestic violence offenders.

It follows the revelation that Christchurch woman Alexsis Tovizi was murdered by Nikki Roper, despite holding a protection order against him.

Minister Anne Tolley says GPS tracking has already proved to be a valuable tool with a number of offenders identified and dealt with for straying near banned areas.

She says if it can stop one potential victim from being harmed then it will be worth it.

Minster Tolley sends her sincere sympathies to the Tovizi family, but says there is no evidence to show that police have failed to act on protection order breaches.

Suffolk County Council is currently trialing an initiative with a group of around 20 dementia patients which sees them wear a device fitted with a GPS system so that if they get lost they can be easily traced.

A number of councils across the country also provide this technology, which has received a mixed reaction.

Annie Topping, chief executive of Healthwatch Suffolk, an independent watchdog for health and social care, said: “With two thirds of dementia patients living in their own homes, any development that gives more support and enhances the independence of those with dementia must be good news for people in Suffolk.

“It will be important though to make sure that this is part of a package to support people with dementia and their carers. It should not just be a sticking plaster and there should be clear principals established about how to use the technology with the input of carers because they know the best way to be supported.

“I have spoken to carers about this idea and they would welcome it. It would be important going forward that carers are involved in the evaluation of this.”

Louise Burrows, Age UK’s Dementia services manager, said: “No new technology should be a substitute for care, however Assistive Technology can effectively supplement a package of support. GPS could enable people with dementia to maintain some independence in their lives. It would reassure family carers that they can be found if lost without resorting to a 999 call.

“I’m aware of two incidents recently involving two older people with dementia who became lost after leaving home unaccompanied. One was returned in a very distressed state sometime later by a neighbour, the other necessitated police intervention. Both of these cases could have been resolved less stressfully if the new technology was available.

“GPS should not be a form of restraint but should afford more freedom for older people to live well with dementia, and should only be introduced with the understanding and consent of those involved and in their best interests.”

The £7,500 pilot started last April and was due to run for a year but has been extended.

A spokeswoman for Suffolk County Council said the idea behind the technology is to help people keep their independence and remain living at home.

She added: “The equipment is fitted with GPS technology and is worn by the individual, allowing them to raise the alarm themselves if they find they become lost or disorientated. The equipment also means that a carer or family member can check online to pin point the individual’s location, or ring a call centre that will identify their location.”

Enfield Borough Council will spend almost £1million on installing new CCTV cameras throughout the borough to make it easier to catch criminals red-handed.

The authority announced its latest spending plans this morning, which will see £958,000 spent on CCTV cameras in 24 undisclosed locations in the borough.

The council believes the move will provide police with information about criminals more easily while reducing fear of crime in the community.

The cameras will add to the 259 cameras already filming in the borough, which provided images leading to 1,000 arrests between April and December last year.

Cabinet member for community wellbeing and public Health, Councillor Christine Hamilton, said the CCTV expansion plan is especially important now Winchmore Hill Police Station has closed and Southgate and Enfield police stations have had their hours slashed.

The Labour politician added: “Enfield is a safe borough but we want to make it the safest in London for our residents and make it a nicer place in which to live, work and visit.

“We work incredibly hard with all our partners to reduce crime and make people feel safer, and the expansion of our already excellent CCTV network will make it easier for us to detect crime and assist our colleagues in the police to apprehend criminals across the whole of our borough, but especially in those areas where crime is higher than we’d like.”

The CCTV shows Narinder Singh, who was jailed for 14 months this week, loitering behind the victim before snatching the smartphone.

As he jumps off the train with her phone, his surprised victim struggles to get to her feet to give chase and bumps into a pole.

Singh trips and hits his head on a stair banister as he makes his getaway, before regaining his balance and exiting the station.

Singh, of no fixed abode, took the phone as the train passed through Seven Kings station in London at about 10.40pm on December 10.

He pleaded guilty to robbery at Snaresbrook Crown Court on Tuesday and will be deported back to India after serving his sentence.

After the CCTV was shown in court, Judge Louise Kamill ordered for its release to serve as a warning to passengers to protect their belongings while travelling.

Detective Constable Gary Wildman said: “Although during interview Singh gave no comment, the overwhelming evidence, including blood left at the bottom of the stairs, gave him no other option but to plead guilty to the offence.”

An accused robber got more than he bargained for during a pharmacy holdup: a bag of loot, plus a tracking device that led to his arrest.

Unbeknownst to the thief, the pharmacy manager who was held up at gunpoint slipped a GPS unit into the gunman’s pillowcase — along with $5,000 from the store safe, according to records filed today in U.S. District Court in Detroit.

The suspect, Tevin Clay, was arrested shortly after the incident, along with the getaway driver, Adrian Roberts, records show. Their ages and hometowns are not known.

This all happened on April 11, just before 10 p.m. at the Rite Aid on South Dort Highway in Burton. According to an affidavit filed in federal court, a masked gunman in a hooded sweatshirt entered the store and ordered the manager to open the safe and place the money inside a pillow case.

The manager did as told, but also slipped in a GPS tracking device, records show.

Once the suspect left the store, the GPS unit was activated, alerting police to the intersection of Dort Highway and Kent Street, where they stopped and searched a black Chevrolet Impala.

Clay, the robbery suspect, was in the passenger seat; Roberts was in the driver’s seat, records show. During the car search, police located a pillow case that contained a Cobra .32 silver caliber pistol, more than $4,900 in cash, and a gray colored face mask, records show.

After being advised of his Miranda Rights, Clay admitted to robbing the store, saying he did it because “he could not find a job,” the affidavit said.

The crime was considered a federal crime – interference with interstate commerce – because the Rite Aid frequently receives out-of-state deliveries of Budweiser beer and Coke and Pepsi products, records show.

Both men were charged with interference with commerce and possessing a firearm during a crime of violence. Roberts also was charged with aiding and abetting by acting as the getaway driver, the affidavit said.

Both men have not yet made initial appearances in court.

It is not yet known if they have their own lawyers, or court-appointed attorneys.

A thief who allegedly stole a number of video cameras from several businesses did not seem to realise that he was being recorded by those very devices.

The man, whose face and tattoos were clearly visible on CCTV footage posted on Facebook and Fairfax websites, was identified by a number of people.

Police charged the 27-year-old man after searching a house in Mirrabooka.

The man has since been charged with four counts of trespassing, four counts of stealing and two counts of criminal damage.

He is alleged to have trespassed onto the premises of four separate light industrial/commercial businesses in Malaga between the night of 11.50pm on Saturday April 13 and 9pm on Sunday April 14 and stole video cameras.

Police spokesman Sam Dinnison said the accused man’s actions suggested he was simply “after the camera equipment.”

It is understood that the man did not steal anything other than the cameras from each of the premises.

The man is expected to apply for bail in Perth Magistrates Court on April 22
