According to pro-consumer rating/protection website, SiteJabber, “fake” high-end luxury items are in abundance this holiday season. SiteJabber is an online resource where shoppers rate & review consumer’s shopping experiences, and they compiled a list (based on total number of complaints) of impostor brands being purchased as gifts. In Orland Park, a man trying to rob an L.A. Tan was shot by a male customer before he was able to commit the robbery. Last Saturday, an employee notified police that an armed robbery was taking place at the Orland Park tanning salon at about 6 PM. According to police records, one of the male customers took the gun from the suspect and then shot him. The robber was taken to an area hospital, but died an hour following the botched robber from two gunshot wounds. (more…)

Barbie’s been maligned over the years; early in her “career,” she endured criticism for not having ties to friends with different ethnic and/or racial backgrounds, then she lost points when the first African American Barbie, Francie, was introduced. Michael Sarno, alleged boss of the “Chicago Outfit” was was aware of an ongoing federal investigation into what the feds say were “illegal activities.”
According to the Sun-Times, the “reputed mob boss” knew that the FBI was closing in for years; so, Sarno didn’t make it easy for the FBI to keep tabs on him.
FBI agents testified in court that the investigation into Sarno –which began in 2006 and resulted in a 2009 racketeering charge– employed surveillance cameras, hidden microphones, and a GPS tracker on Sarno’s car. Agents also kept watch on Sarno, recording him with a hand-held camera. One surveillance cam was mounted outside a pawn shop where investigators stated served as a planning area. (more…)
